Vicharchika, a Rakta Pradoshaja Vikara with Kapha dominance, is a chronic condition with exacerbations, similar to eczema in modern medicine. Eczema involves skin inflammation, redness, edema, itching, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. Patients often turn to Ayurveda when modern treatments fail.
Causes:
- Excessive consumption of dry, stale, cold, salty, spicy, sour, fermented, or fried foods
- Late-night work schedules, excessive physical, mental, and sexual activities, stress
- Excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, aerated drinks
- Indigestion, constipation, acidity, flatulence
Symptoms:
- Kandu (itching)
- Pidika (carbuncle)
- Syava (blackish discoloration)
- Srava (discharge)
- Rajyo (marked lining due to thickness of lesions)
- Ruja (pain)
- Ruksa (dryness)
Treatment
According to Ayurvedic texts, all types of kushtha are considered in “ Rakta pradoshaja Vikara “. Rakta with twaka usually become the main dushya in most of the skin diseases. Vicharchika is also included in rakta –pradoshaja vikara. So the Ayurvedic treatment of vicharchika is depends upon rakta shodhana & local treatment.
